Dr. Sudha Ramaswamy is a Licensed and Doctoral-Level Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Fulbright Specialist Scholar with extensive experience working with children who have special learning needs. Her approach is marked by a unique combination of empathy and innovation, extending beyond direct learner engagement to encompass collaborative work with families and educators alike. Dr. Ramaswamy is devoted to cultivating a learning environment where each learner is at the heart of their educational journey, guided by evidence-based practices that inform and inspire her teaching. Her work encompasses a thorough evaluation of each learner's learning needs, the design of tailored academic programs, and the continuous monitoring of their progress.
Dr. Ramaswamy brings extensive clinical experience to her role as Professor of Special Education and Department Chair at Mercy University, where she has been teaching since 2006. Her career began at the Fred S. Keller School in Yonkers, New York, and she subsequently served in a clinical capacity at the Hawthorne Country Day School Manhattan Annex. There, she advanced to roles as Education Coordinator and Program Coordinator. At Mercy University, she teaches graduate courses in Early Childhood and Childhood Special Education and oversees the coursework sequence for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board credential.
Dr. Ramaswamy integrates her extensive background in neuroscience and behavior with her expertise in applied behavior analysis and the science of learning. She holds both a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Special Education with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from Columbia University. Prior to this, she earned her B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior from Barnard College, Columbia University.
